Dolomite
Mineral Category: Non-metallic / Industrial Mineral
Overview: Dolomite is a carbonate mineral composed primarily of calcium magnesium carbonate and is widely used in metallurgical, construction, and chemical industries. Its dual calcium and magnesium content makes it a valuable raw material for both industrial processing and infrastructure applications.
Key Uses & Industries Served:
- Iron and steel industry (flux material)
- Cement and construction materials
- Glass and ceramics manufacturing
- Chemical and refractory industries
Importance to Infrastructure / Economy:
Dolomite supports core industries such as steel, cement, and construction, playing an important role in industrial development and infrastructure growth.
CMDC owns a dolomite block in Sakti district having 326 MT reserve. The block is in a progressive stage for operationalization.
Projects Overview: CMDC maintains substantial dolomite resources primarily through the Chittapandariya Dolomite Project, which covers approximately 326.167 hectares in the Sakti District of C.G and hosts geological reserves of about 135.671 million tonnes with a PRC of 2 MT. Dolomite is widely used in the iron and steel industry as a fluxing agent and also supports refractory, glass, and construction industries.
